Term Definition
X-Axis   The horizontal or left-to-right direction in a two-dimensional system of coordinates.
X-ray fluorescence (XRF)   The emission of characteristic "secondary" (or fluorescent) X-rays from a material that has been excited by bombarding with high-energy X-rays or gamma rays. The phenomenon is widely used for elemental analysis and chemical analysis, particularly in the investigation of metals.
X-ray laminography   An inspection method, which utilizes x-rays to view thin layers of a circuit board.
X-raying   An inspection process used mainly for determining the alignment of internal features (pads, conductors, etc.) of a multilayer board. It may also be used to determine the quality of solder joints that cannot be inspected by direct visual means.
